About the course

In this course, The faculty will explain the origins of cancer from the smallest unit, such as cells, DNA, chromosomes, and telomeres, as well as their function and role, in this course. The course will explain what causes cancer, its development, mutations, and more. The course also covers the tumor microenvironment and the differences between cancer and normal cells. It will go through the major causes of cancer, the role of carcinogens, and risk factors. The course will also shed light on the prevalence of various types of cancer around the world in both males and females. Moreover, the unit will highlight the conventional methods of treatment and their limitations. In addition, as part of the solution, you will learn about the measures available today to reduce the risk of cancer and the proactive role of yoga as a rehabilitative technique to avoid its occurrence and recurrence. The Yoga Protocol for Cancer, as well as rehab and symptom management, will be covered in the course. Lastly, Dr. Vaidya will summarize the different studies on how yoga affects breast cancer and what role integrative medicine plays.

Successful candidates will be awarded a certificate.

About The Author & What you’ll learn

Dr. Rashmi Vaidya, MD, is a Breast Surgical Oncology Specialist in Glendale, AZ, and has over 26 years of experience in the medical field. She is affiliated with medical facilities such as Abrazo Arrowhead Campus and Abrazo Scottsdale Campus. She is a guest faculty member at the AAYM (American Association of Yoga and Meditation). Dr. Vaidya practices a patient-centered, evidence-based approach to breast cancer treatment. Dr. Vaidya is an active member of the American Society of Breast Surgeons and serves on several committees, including the ASBS, the Selected Readings Subcommittee, the Imaging Certification Committee, and the Ultrasound Review Committee. She is also a lecturer on the basics of cancer and yoga therapy for cancer for VaYu.
